Reaching Out To Someone In Need - Twitter

Hi Pals,

Exciting news..........

I'm collecting stories of how someone on Twitter reached out to you and touched your life in the time of great need when you were really hurting.  It could have  been with a card or personal note, perhaps a couple of DMs, maybe a small gift arriving in the mail, etc. - some act of kindness that really touched you and you'll always remember it.

A few days ago one of our Twitter friends contacted a few of us via email and asked if we had any stories like I just mentioned.  This particular human was working on a project for her job at work and needed a story or two.   Well, one by one these stories arrived by email, and the stories were each so very touching that many of us had very leaky  eyes.   Then someone made the comment that these stories should be turned into a book.

@FreshOtis and @MickeyShortTail's humans (both of whom have published books) volunteered to turn these stories into a book if someone would collect them.   Well, here I am.  I volunteered M for the job.

If you have a story and would like to share it, please email M at Ladycat3.04@gmail.com.   Just name the subject line "Animal Story" so she doesn't miss it.   She'll be collecting stories and will turn them over to @MickeyShortTail and @FreshOtis for final editing and making into a book.

The plan is to sell copies of the book and donate the money to an animal charity (to be determined yet).

You can help too by RTing the tweet when you see it.

If you have any questions you can contact @Mariodacat either by email or a DM on Twitter.

This is going to be so very cool.

  2. That's such a neat idea, Mario! I use Twitter for work, but not so much in my personal life, so I don't really have any of these kinds of stories to send you. I AM, however, really looking forward to reading the ones that are submitted! :)

    HUGS!

  3. This is a great idea. I don't Twitter, never have. (I can't help but think of Monty Python and the Twit Races, sorry.)
There is so much social media, and it takes so much time. I don't even do Facebook much. I'd rather read, write or be with critters!
But I can't wait to read these stories!

  5. Great idea. Why doesn't someone collect the proceeds and give them out when there's an anipal in need. There's been so many recently between people being out of work and high vet bills.

  40. oh Mario, such a pawsome idea!! I am thinking of making my Real Rescue Cats and Dogs Are Talking Interviews into a book. I was hopin' to offer it to shelters to give away to new adopters to help them learn about ways they can help their adult shelter rescue cat or dog. But maybe it should be for sale and use all (like there would be any MOL) proceeds to help adopters with vet costs like CK mentioned...what think you???

  41. I know I have some events like this I must remember them. I tend to panic and forget. OK guys remind me OK?

Savannah - go for the asking for money thing. Never give something away - people do not value it.

  44. Hi dear pal!

The sweetest anipals in the world are on twitter. I am so grateful for our friends.

I remember when Honeybell got out and was missing for a day. I was so sad, I asked for a #pawcircle.

Seconds after the pawcircle started, I went outside at midnight to sit in a chair until the little focker came home. ;)

I can't believe it when he appeared around the corner and missing his collar but he was home safe and sound.

Everyone on twitter got together and sent us a KritterKondo! I love the kind, loving hearts of the bestest ppl on earth on twitter!

    Love you,
    HB and Nina
