Whew! I'm thankful that's over - Thankful Thurrsday Blog Hop

Hi Pals,

Well, I got dragged off to the vet place again.   This time it wasn't the ER, it was my regular vet place, which I like a whole lot better. I love their scale and am content to sit here for hours.   In fact, the vet man even gave me the exam  while I was laying here.  He groped me all over, and then told M he didn't feel any problem.

What problem you ask.   Well, M gets excited when I throw up too many times in a short time span - like within  the same day.  In this case she said I threw up 4 times during the night and then again 3 times in the morning.   One time it was a perfect hairball that I had been building up to.  he he - finally came out.   Other than the hairball, the other times I presented her with soggy, wet kibble.  Then she dashes me off to the vet to get a shot to quiet my stomach down, or sometimes D just gives me a pill that goes the same thing, but I am getting smart on the pill thing and run for under the bed when I think he's coming with one!

Vet man is thinking I'm allergic to over-the-counter cat food, and he recommends a prescription diet that I get to start tomorrow.   He thinks I have been going through this same thing for a long time - like maybe 4 years now.   So we'll try the new food.  Actually the ER vet said the same thing, only he wanted me on a high protein diet, which I didn't like.   So stay tuned and keep your paws crossed that I like the food (I have a habit of not liking a lot of food that M tries to get me to eat!  Well, gee, a guy can be a little discerning can't he?)

I'm very thankful I'm home now and happy once again.   So we're joining Brian's Home Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   Hop along with us.

Mario

Phinny is allergic to a lot of foods too. The company that made the only food he could eat safely has been bought up by another big name. They won't make his food anymore. What's a cuddly boy with allergy issues to do? Vet doesn't know and M for sure doesn't know. :-(

Sorry, Mario! We hope the new food works out well for you.

Every now and then we get to have a free bag of food from Petsmart--you know, one of those brands you need to have a Swiss bank account for. What always happens? We wolf it down like there's no tomorrow! We like our regular Science Diet variety just fine but we like it that Petsmart gives us stuff. So we hope that your new food is as much of a treat as our occasional new food has been.

Yikes, allergic to noms is not fun...Minko can well relate. Though fur now we seem to have found some that he tolerates. Not prescription.
Once when petcretary didn't know he had this issue, he got tempted with some of his old food and his ears broke out in an itchy red rash. Boo. So he eats a grain free wet food, petcretary has to put it in his mouth...but he hardly throws up or has diarrhea any more...which he lots of. He gets a steroid each day, and antacid pills and Vit B12. Also a good human grade probiotic. (16strains, 3 billion CFU.) Vet man thinks he has IBD as well as some allergies.

Thanks for the POTP and purrs fur our dog-guy, too. He's doing much better now.

I hope the new diet works for you, Mario! Or at least that you eat it so that you know whether or not it works for you.

Mario, we sure hope you like the new food. We have a couple of cats here that do a lot of throwing up. Missy, for one, but she has long hair and it is usually hair balls. So we sure hope the new food works for you. We are all very fussy about what we eat too. Good luck to you Mario. Take care.

Sorry you got dragged off to the vet. I am glad you are OK and I hope you like the new food. You are lucky to have such caring folks that worry about you even if it is a pain going to the vet.

Oh sweet Mario we feel so bad!!! We are wishing you weren't allergic to your food, that makes me sad. Cody threw up big time the other day but I think it was because he had eaten a few sunflower seeds I had left out...I googled it and it said it causes stomach distress in cats but isn't lethal thank God!! Mario, please feel better!!! catchatwithcarenandcody

Yep, the best thing about a vet appt is when it's over. :) We wonder if you yakking up that hairball irritated your stomach and made you throw up more, Mario. We hope the new food helps you. Ernie has some food allergies...we think it's to the grains in some foods, like wheat and rice.

Hi Mario! Glad you're OK other than the possible food issue but maybe the new food will work. I had the same kind of problem too but Hills prescription diet for digestive issues stayed down!! Here's hoping you find a good solution.........and here's also hoping you have a nice Easter!

It's always worrying when they try to change our food. Is this vet diet something the vet sells? Just wondering.... Other than Sei-Chan who has to eat renal food (that we don't buy from our vet), none of us eat the vet stuff because our vet, whom we adore, told us the high-end commercial stuff was just as good. Anyway, we wish you luck with your new food, Mario!

Hi, Mario! We hope your Human manages to find some food that you like and that is also good for you.
One of Us threw up a hairball last night but Mummy doesn't know who. The hairs were black so it might have been Trixie but on the other hand, Caspurr goes around EATING Trixie's shed fur, so it might have been him.

I'm glad you finally got rid of that nasty hairball. I know from experience that it can take a few tries to get some of them out!
I hope your new food helps you feel better. I've been doing really well on my no fish / no chicken diet.

Mario, I'm sending healing purrz and hope you are feeling better. Lots of cats with bomit problems are switching to raw foods. Do you think you'd like them or could eat them with not toothies.
