Remembering 9/11& Special Tribute by ShibberingCs

Hi Pals,

I'm turning the first part of this bloggy over to M cuz I wasn't even born yet when 9/11 happened.  But I has heard lots of stories and I knows it was a bery bad thing.

Mario's Mom here - 9/11/01 will always be etched in my memory along with the day President Kennedy was Assassinated.   Two tragic days that forever changed the course of American History.

While we don't live in or near New York City as some of Mario's pals do, we too were deeply impacted.   I was at work when someone passed through the office and said the World Trade Center Twin Towers had been attacked and were burning.   I immediately ran into the Director's office conference room, where some co-workers were huddled around the small TV in total disbelief of the tragedy unfolding before our eyes.  Then the situation became worse with a plane headed to Wasnington DC.   It was very scary and all I wanted to do was go home and hug my family, but of course I had to finish out my day at the office. Our hearts broke for all the lives lost that senseless day.   It was scary to even see on TV,  and the discussion for weeks to come was "could it happen here" because we have a nuclear power plant only about 30 miles away and we also have a major league football stadium only 2 miles from our house.   Yes, it could happen here!

My good friend @CathyKeisha lives in New York and her pops witnessed the event as the buildings were burning.  I urge you to go over and read about his first-hand experience.  It's one thing to have watched it on TV, it's another thing to look out your office window and actually see it.   http://www.stunningkeisha.com/2011/09/our-story-ten-years-later.html.  It's important we never forget.

Mario here -   Now on to something positive dat we can do to honor the day on Sunday.  The ShibberingC's (Twitter's famous Rock Stars, led by @MattieDog, and her all anipal band) are paying homage to all the lives lost dat day.   Please see their website for more information at:   http://shibberingcheetos.com/gigs.  Then join us all on Twitter from 8:45 am EDT to noon EDT with a hashtag of #lubbeads911.   Please come, if you can, because it will be a great tribute with anipals joining in from all over the world.

See you all on Sunday pals.

Mario

Mario, thank you Mom for what she has written. My Mom, too, has such a strong memory of that day. he was able to go to the very top of the building where she worked and see the twin towers burning. She is worried about the terror plot warnings for this weekend too.

I read CK's story too and WOW! I read another one yesterday, but for the life of me I can't remember the blog it was on. Although I was around at the time, I will never forget.

MOm says she will never forget 9-11 either. She was home sick with the shingles and she had the TV on, and the people on the TV really did not know what was going on. But she sat right there and watched both towers fall on TV. She was dumbfounded and what she saw on live TV that day she will never forget. It's so hard to believe it's been 10 years, and sadly she feels like we still have to defend ourselves against a faceless monster. Thanks for sharing your memory.

Thank you for linking to my blog. We were unfortunately too close to the action. Pop lost a client and he doesn't know how many newspaper subscribers. TW lost the pastor of her church and 4 firemen from the nearby firehouse. I pray there are no more attacks.

Mom remembers that day.She was at work, too. She worked in a very tall building across the street from a the federal center. They evacuated the building and sent everyone home. All day long she was trying to find out about her cousin that worked in the world trade center. It was days before they finally found out he was ok.

Watching the buildings come down was so hard for Mom, even on tv. She grew up in NYC and used to work there before school and watched the towers being built. I wasn't around yet, but I've heard Mom talk about it.

Thank you for this post Mario. I just shared it on Facebook and Twitter.

I am watching the live coverage of 9/11 on NBC right now, not in the mood for Twitter right now but think that what the Shibbering C's are doing is great!

You are in my thoughts
