Lippi on Yukon Road Trip - Skagway to Carcross, Canada - Part 4

Hi Pals,

Lippi and the oomans took a road trip from Skagway, Alaska to Carcross in the Yukon Territory (gold rush territory).   SIL had heard it was a bootiful road to take.  So Lippi decided he better supervise SIL's driving.

M said the the scenery was breathtaking.   Just sit back and enjoy the car ride.

Drove from Skagway to Carcross with many stops along the way.  It took 2+ hours to drive between 2 of those little red dots at the bottom of the map because it's so beautiful and we kept stopping.

At one point, SIL stopped the car so everyone could get out to take pictures.  Sisfur decided to take Lippi for a walk up the road to see what she could find.

Oh Look, we would have missed the Marmot if sisfur hadn't taken that little walk.

Saw our first Marmot (Horry's Ground Squirrel .  Wild critter not at all interested in oomans nor frightened by us.   About the size of  Mario (12 pounds).

Biggified in the bottom picture so you can see him better.  Cute little guy.

Live in the mountain areas like Alaska, British Columbia, Montana, etc, to name a few.   (Not in Wisconsin, so no wonder M had never seen one before).
----

Welcome To Carcross, Canada:   (Population 0 - the few people that work here live elsewhere!)

Downtown Carcross (Watch traffic closely please) (he he)

"Lippays he's hungry!   Oh boy!  okay - let's see if we can find a restaurant in town!"i s
he he  - this is their drive-in restaurant.   (Maybe @Herbie_Cat could open a branch of Herbie's Drive In here).  ha ha! Lippi says he had a hot dog tho that was actually pretty good.

See Lippi in the bear's pocket?   Dad being silly again!
Carcross also has a museum.  The bear was standing just outside dat building.   Lippi wanted to know if perhaps this bear was his cousin.   That's why D put Lippi in the bear's pocket.  Then dad whispered to the bear that he hadn't better hurt Lippi.

After eating our lunch in Carcross, we decided it was time to head back to the ship in Skagway.

Gasp!  Bear!   Bear!  Lippi - behind you.

We drove maybe the equivalent of 1/4 mile and.......
"Bear!  Bear!  Bear!"
Both were just enjoying a light snack of "whatever" along the roadside, totally unaware and uncaring that we were there, says M.

Back to the ship now.   Poor Lippi is all tired out again and can't wait to crawl in bed and take a bear snooze.

See you tomorrow as the ship sets sail for a sea day and stop in Victoria, British Columbia.

Lippi In Alaska - Glacier Bay - Part 3

Hi Pals,

Poor Lippi - he told me he had the worst headache the next morning.   It's a good thing he was spending the day on ship cruising to Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska because he didn't feel like moving much.  It was a good day to sit on the balcony and watch the world float by and take a nap or two, or three, or more.

Mario's mom here - The ship sailed up a 20 mile long channel into Glacier Bay.   A Park Ranger from Glacier Bay National Park boarded the ship and explained things along the 20 mile ride.  At one time the glacier ran the entire length of that 20-mile strip.     Here's a googled map showing the route - we were in the channel on the back side of the park
Lippi said it was getting colder the deeper they traveled through the passage into Glacier Bay.   The fresh air cleared his hangover tho!

Ice Falls/Waterfalls coming off mountins.

Ice Berg - YIKES - Hope Lippi's ship doesn't sink.

Lippi sees his first glacier and a "hush" fell over the entire ship as all passengers listened to the Park Ranger on the room's TV.

Look at all those pretty colors too!   Awesome!

B O O M !  Lippi said a chunk of ice fell off into the water, making such a loud boom that it scared him so much he jumped way up to the ceiling and banged his head.  It was so scary!

Here you can see where some has already broken off and slid down hill.
This glacier has a big hole in it.   M said she doesn't want to be on the water when it finally cracks and falls into the sea.  It may create a wave so huge it can be seen in China!  he he (she's just kidding.)

Sailing back out of the channel into Glacier Bay and towards Skagway, Alaska - lots of sea lions (above pic) and Sea Otter were seen frolicking in the water.

SIL celebrated a birthday that night.  Lippi said the cake was delicious!

Lippi was so tired, he said it's time for bed now.  I'll be back again tomorrow with Part 4.  (We have about 2 or 3 posts left, so we hope we aren't boring you too much!)  Lippi  hopes you'll be back too.

Lippi in Alaska - Part 2 - On Sky Tram in Juneau

Sisfur, SIL and Lippi on Sky Tram to top of mountain.

Hi Pals,

Back to Lippi's Sky Tram adventure to the top of a mountasin with Sisfur and SIL
Lippi looks over Juneau, Alaska.
Lippi looks at mountains around Juneau from Sky Tram
Lippi sees more of downtown Juneau from Sky Tram.  He had fun up there.

More of downtown Juneau.  See the ship in the lower left corner?   Lippi said it was the ship he was on.  Looks like a toy ship from up so high.

Then either at the top of the mountain, or in town after they got off the skytram, Sisfur and SIL stopped for a beer.  Of course Lippi wanted to try it too.  Who can blame him afterall, he was on a great adventure.

Lippi totally passed out in Sisfur's room when they got back on board - too much beer.   Lippi had a sleep over there cuz he was embarrassed to go back to M and D's cabin and let them know he had been drinking.
Meanwhile M and D were apparently sleeping in their cabin totally unaware of what Lippi, Sisfur, and SIL were up too.

Lippi said it was great fun.   Stay tuned to see how he felt the next morning and where he goes next.

Farewell For Now Sweet Bunny Jean Cook

Bunny Jean Cook (OTRB 6/7/11)

Hi Pals,

We've had leaky eyes last night and again this morning because that sweet @BunnyJeanCook crossed the OTRB this morning.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her ooman mom and ooman sisfur for their loss.   She will be sadly missed by all who knew her her.

BJ  was my very first bunny friend and taught me so much bunnies - to the point where M said if she were 20 years younger she'd have a bunny too

BJ is  a legend on Twitterville, Blogosphere, and FaceBook for:

    - Keeping us all posted on Animal Rights and Abuse cases in her blog.

    - Teaching us about rabbits - how to handle, how to care for, etc.

    - Featuring bunnies that needed homes in her blog and  tweeting too.

    - Her charity work for animals in all three spheres and locally in her
     local community.

    - Her involvement in every #pawpawty since it's conception 2++ years ago

     - Her involvement with DJing at #nipclub, #pawparties, #weddings,
#anniversaries, fund raisers,  and any other occasion she was asked to DJ
       for.

You name it, and BJ was always there, involved, and willing to do whatever she could do to help..

Oh, and one last thing BJ is a legend for -  her costumes for #pawparties and events.   This is my favorite:

Isn't she bootiful as Lady Gaga.  She had so many other great ones too.  Whenever a #pawpawty came around, I couldn't wait to see how BJ would be dressed for it.   So many good memories of her.

The day started out so sad, but I wandered over to Twitter to be with my pals.  Was I ever glad I did because @GeorgeTheDuck and @Kittehboi were DJing many of the songs BJ played in her sets.   Pretty soon @CathyKeisha joined in.  Then BJ herself played a couple of songs on Twitter.   You can't imagine how happy I was to see that.  As I write this @Pandafur just finished her set and coming on is @Flicka47, and there will probably be others joining in as the night goes on.   What a tribute to a great bunny.   The music did not stop with BJ's passing, her tunes live on forever too.

BJs  mom did say in  BJ's  blog that BJ would still keep her blog up, with her mom's help of course, and she will still DJ at #pawparties, as will her mom.  That just makes my heart all warm and toasty.   They will continue on with all their good work as they have in the past, only BJ probably won't tweet as herself on Twitter.   But her mom @VSCook will tweet as herself, not as BJ.

My day has ended on a much happier note, and I hope yours has too.

We love you BJ!   Farewell for now - we'll meet again someday.

Lippi Goes To Alaska With Mario's Picture - Part I

Lippi all packed - ready for trip to Alaska, without me (big sigh)
Hi pals,

Well, Lippi made it to Alaska, came back - unscathed, and reported he had a great adventure.   He told me all about the trip, showed me pictures, and told me  to share them with you.

After a long ride in dat big bird that flies in the sky, they landed in Vancouver, B.C..  Lippi couldn't believe he was getting on a ship so big.  You can see it here - it's the one in the back.
At least they took my picture along.   Anyway, Lippi said they had a balcony room so he could sit on the balcony on the table and watch the world go by.
The next morning he got to see the mountains in Alaska for the first time.

First Port Of Call: - Juneau, Alaska
Lippi on the boat to go whale watching.
Lippi sees his first whale.  But my dumb ooman wasn't fast enough with camera - she got the tail in the water after it came out of water and dove back in.
Thats my ooman sisfur and her husband (I call him SIL for M and D's son-in-law) taking Lippi up in the sky tram over Juneau.   Stay tuned, cuz they do get Lippi in trouble up der.   (I just knew dat they would find trouble for Lippi to get into cuz they always find fun things to do.)   Stay tuned........

Lippe Arrives

What's in the box?
 Hi Pals.

My good pals  and @Schnille (who sadly crossed the OTRB a few months ago)  in Germany sent his buddy Lippe on an "Around The World Adventure"  The little guy has been traveling for almost a year now and has visited so many pals already.

I'm so excited cuz now he has arrived to visit me, coming from @BusyButtons house in Illinois.  (Whew, luckily Buttons didn't strip his fur off.  Lippe arrived here without any signs of nibbling by Buttons'.)

Please meet Lippe!

Lippe arrived with his own wardrobe - an outfit for every occasion.
Lippe was tired out after his airplane ride, so we took a nap together.  He's so soft.
Lippe and I cuddled together cuz he said he was lonesome for home.

Me napping the next morning in sun puddles while Lippe looked out the window - you can see his head just above my back.

I wanted M to take him out and show him around our city, but (gasp!) she informed me that she and dad were taking Lippe with them on a cruise to Alaska, and I would have to stay home with the pet sitter.   CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!   Lippe is supposed to be visiting me - not them!  It seems that even my sisfur and SIL will be on this adventure too.   The whole family is going an leaving me behind!!

Oh Lippe pal, I'm going to miss you, but I wants you to have this experience so you can tell all your friends back home all about Alaska.

Stay tuned pals cuz I hear that Lippe had quite an adventure.   I'm just happy it wasn't me that got him into trouble!..................
